mini Me
I bought a Mac mini right after the last speed bump in July and moved my day-to-day stuff over to it. It's been a fantastic Mac for me, and I don't regret buying it for one second.
I've been around Apple long enough to follow the rumors about new hardware and know that the best time to buy without feeling like you were ripped off is immediately after new hardware is released. There's usually anywhere from a 6-12 month gap between model revisions, so it's useful to track the rumors and try to get the best bang for your buck.
So I noticed with some chagrin that it is rumored today that new Mac minis are slated to come out any day now, only 2 months after the last update.

Hi Brad,
I am also in need of a new computer. Unfortunatly I can't make up my mind. I am a musician, wed programmer (Java, DHTML, python), but I NEEEEED to play Doom3.
Mini- If they do put a 5400 RPM hard drive in that machine it will become a very interesting machine. Of course no way to get D3 to run on this.
iMac- I'd love to taste the power of a G5, but a radeon 9600 won't be useful very long and barely runs Doom3. What's more I have a radeon 9800 just waiting for a good computer.
PowerMac- Dude, forget it. When they'll put dual cores in it, it will too late. Focus will be on Intel. Okay, okay, I exagerate, but a machine with the price of a PowerMac should last 6 years at least, and I am afraid it won't be the case. Expecially with gaming.
In the end, I really feel like the Mini will be my only choice until I ruin myself on a PowerMac with Intel Inside.
Sad sad sad.. I wanted to play Doom3, Collin Mc Rae Rally (!!!!), Fable...
Maybe I could find a used 1.6-1.8 Ghz G5, but then used macs are always so expensive...
