G5 Watch
Are you bored? Want to know where my 2.5 GHz G5 currently sits?
Well, wait no more! You can find out by clicking here.
As of right now, it's finally left China and is sitting in Anchorage, Alaska. I especially like the comment for it: "Delay beyond our control." My mind is reeling with possibilities thinking of things could cause FedEx delays beyond their control. Did their plane crash and it's sitting on a desert island with Tom Hanks? Was there a hostage situation that caused a work stoppage? And I wonder - it crossed the international date line, so are the times on the site calibrated to US time or were they originally China time? It seems like the latter, as it left China after it arrived in Alaska. ;-) Would that be considered a speed-up beyond their control?
The smart money seems to be on it arriving Friday. The order has "priority overnight" status, but I don't think they'll do a Saturday delivery which means there's a chance it could arrive on Monday, provided there are no more delays out of their control. ;-)

Bummer... hopefully it arrives on Monday. Goodluck!

Truck broke down if driving (wouldn't put it past FedEx to drive it from Alaska), could be plane problems or weather. They could just be making sure it works for you too.

It's 'custom'ary for international packages from China to pay a visit to the AK. Well, my Pismo I bought via the PowerBook 5300 trade in program (where Apple would receive the PB, make sure it works, "destroy it" - there words, then put in the order for my Pismo) made the AK stop.

And here I was happy on receiving my 1.25Ghz eMac, while you are waiting for your 2.5Ghz PowerMac G5
:-(
Oh well, enjoy it.
Remember, there is always someone worse off than you are.

I hear you, Francois. If it makes you feel any better, this new G5 isn't really "mine". It's actually owned by Aspyr, so if I ever leave Aspyr, it goes back to them.

Uh oh, Brad has his new toy now!

Brad,
don't mind me. Enjoy your new G5.
You are my hero for doing the port of KOTOR. If the G5 can get you to do your work better/faster I'm happy for you!
Enjoy!!

If it saves me X number of dollars Aspyr can gladly own several of my things :D. Tho... i don't know if I want to work.. do they dismiss you if you read blogs all day long?

Do you think that the 6800 Ultra is a good investment for playing games on the mac well into the future? I know this card is designed to push the 30", but it's really the only preformer around... Would i be better off waiting for ATI's RETAIL answer? ...which could be a long time...

I think the 6800 Ultra is a great card, although with the caveat that have no personal experience with it on the Mac. My only complaint about it would be that it's a huge monster that'll eat up two of your slots. For mainly that reason, I prefer the more elegant design of the ATI cards.
